BMW Group Achieves Record Sales In H1 2025 In India
BMW Group India records best-ever H1 sales in 2025 with 7,774 cars, led by EVs, luxury sedans, and SUVs.
BMW Group India finished the first six months of the year 2025 with its record high car sales so far. Total car sales of BMW and Mini were 7,774 vehicles from January to June 2025. This is 10 percent higher than the same period of the prior year. What is even more significant is the fact that each of the individual months of the second quarter (April, May, June) achieved the highest sales ever so far. This shows the apparent and continuous development of the company in India.
Looking at the numbers more closely, BMW cars made up 7,477 units of the total sales. Mini cars added 297 units to this impressive count. BMW Motorrad, which is the company’s motorcycle division, also did well, delivering 2,569 motorcycles during these six months. A big reason for this growth came from cars with longer wheelbases. Luxury models like the 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and the iX1 Long Wheelbase helped BMW see a huge 159 percent jump in sales for these longer cars compared to the first half of 2024.
These extended wheelbase cars now contribute to 47 percent of the overall passenger car sales of BMW in India. In the BMW sedan range, the highest market share was of the 5 Series and the most selling vehicle of its class was the 3 Series. Electric vehicles (EVs) also played an integral part in the success formula. BMW Group India continued to dominate the luxury electric vehicle market with the sales of 1,322 electric vehicles in the first six months of the year. This is a phenomenal 234 percent higher than the year ago same period and electric vehicles now contribute 18 percent of the brand's total car sales. The most-selling electric vehicle was the iX1 Long Wheelbase and the flagship i7. Customers of the electric automobiles are offered free Wallbox chargers and free access to the huge charging stations network and smart digital solutions for routing and charging support.
BMW Group now sells six all-electric vehicles in India: the i7, iX, i5, i4, iX1, and the MINI Countryman E. They also sell two electric scooters, the CE 04 and CE 02. In the SUV segment, BMW recorded a 17 percent increase in the first half of the year 2025. Their market share of total car sales increased from 56 percent in the first quarter of the year to 59 percent in the second quarter of the year. The highest selling vehicle in the SUV space was the X1, accounting for over 30 percent of all car deliveries of BMW. It is still the No. 1 leader in the premium compact SUV space in India. The second highest selling vehicle by volume was the X5. Mini delivered 297 vehicles in the first six months of the year, and the most successful model was the Cooper S. Its volumes increased by over 60 percent from the same period last year. The Countryman E also featured prominently in Mini’s expanding electric vehicle ambitions and contributed nearly equally to Mini’s combined sales along with the other model. In the motorcycle market, the G 310 RR was the best-selling of the new breed of entry bikes. In the adventure bike sector, the 900 GS / GSA and the larger 1300 GS / GSA proved very popular. The S 1000 RR was the best-seller in the high-performance superbike sector.
At the pinnacle of BMW’s lineups, the Luxury Class vehicles kept gaining ground. The 7 Series, i7, X7, and XM, all members of the BMW Luxury Class line, were and continued to be best sellers. The X7 has itself accumulated sales of over 5,000 units since the launch of the vehicle. The 7 Series and i7 were also segment leaders in the first half of 2025.
