Vida VX2 Electric Scooter Launching July 1 With Battery Subscription Model

Hero’s Vida VX2 EV offers Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS Subscription), flexible pricing, and access to 3,600+ chargers across 100+ Indian cities.

Hero MotoCorp’s electric vehicle division, Vida, will launch its new VX2 electric scooter on July 1. Before its official release, Vida has confirmed that the VX2 will come with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This means buyers can choose to pay for the battery separately through a subscription plan.

The company has teased the VX2, showing a design similar to the VIDA Z concept first seen at last year’s EICMA show. Teaser images reveal a wraparound LED headlamp at the front. Photos from dealerships in May showed a large digital display, a flat seat, and an LED tail lamp. The side profile of the scooter also looks like the Vida Z concept.

While the VX2 scooter itself is new, its ownership plan is a key difference. Vida’s BaaS model allows customers to separate the cost of the battery from the scooter’s price. This offers flexible payment plans based on how much the scooter is used. The goal is to make electric vehicles more affordable by lowering the initial cost for buyers.

This monthly BaaS model aims to reduce the large upfront investment needed for electric scooters. It lets people pay for the scooter body and the battery on their own terms. This approach could bring in more buyers who might not want to buy a battery outright. It helps those who are unsure about the long-term cost or resale value of electric vehicle batteries.

Vida states its aim is to make electric vehicles easier to access by offering affordable options and more choices. The company will provide different subscription levels to match how often riders use their scooters, whether daily or just sometimes. Hero MotoCorp hopes this flexibility will attract more interest in the electric vehicle market, where concerns about range and resale value still exist.

Support for charging and service will be important. Vida already has a large network, with over 3,600 fast chargers and more than 500 service points in over 100 cities across India. VX2 customers will be able to use this existing network.

The Vida VX2 will likely have two battery options. A standard version may come with a single 2.2 kWh battery. A higher-end model could have two 3.4 kWh batteries. The larger battery setup might offer a range of over 100 km. Both battery types will probably be removable.

Full details on pricing, exact subscription plans, and all features will be announced at the launch event on July 1.
