Norton V4 tested by TVS CEO in UK marks a major step in brand revival ahead of global debut

Norton, the legendary motorcycle brand owned by TVS currently, has announced the release of its latest generation, the new Norton V4. Recent sighting has identified the highest-ranking executive at TVS Motor Company, Sudarshan Venu, testing the new model extensively in the United Kingdom. This is important for Norton as it is launching its first all-new motorbike after TVS took over the brand.

Design and Development

The Norton V4 has a totally new-looking appearance compared to its last incarnation. It comes with an entirely new front section, new headlights, and new fairings. The design also shoots for an aggressive form that conveys Norton's effort to break free from sportbike mold. The designers probably paid attention to incorporating the newest technology and amenities into this motorcycle so that it can hold its own in an extremely competitive segment.

Performance and Features

In spite of sparse details on specific performance, the new Norton V4 guarantees one of a thrilling ride. The bike employs USD (Upside Down) forks, which will be adjustable to the essence. It also has a monoshock at the rear and disc brakes at both ends, as well as 17-inch wheels. The bike will be equipped with a wide array of electronic aids, subject to competition from other motorbikes in its category. The engine will be paired with a six-speed transmission, featuring a bidirectional quick shifter.

Global Reveal and Plans

The new V4 will be globally revealed by Norton on November 4 at EICMA. The launch is an important milestone for the brand as it works towards reestablishing its presence in the sportbike market, a segment where Norton has always maintained a rich heritige presence. TVS and Norton are also building a series of new models in the next few years. However, at present, their priority is to revive Norton's worldwide reputation before they venture into India. Smaller displacement Norton bikes, less than 500cc, will find a destination in India later. TVS will manufacture these at its Hosur facility, which currently manufactures motorcycles for BMW.
