Mahindra XUV 3XO Launched in Australia At AUD 23,490
Mahindra XUV 3XO now in Australia. Affordable, packed with features, and ready to rival compact SUVs like Mazda CX-3 and Chery Tiggo 4
Mahindra has launched its new XUV 3XO compact SUV in Australia, aiming to increase its presence in that market. This vehicle will compete with other small SUVs already there, such as the Chery Tiggo 4, Mazda CX-3, MG ZS, Kia Stonic, and Hyundai Venue. The XUV 3XO in Australia comes in two versions: AX5L and AX7L.
Design and Features
The outside look of the Australian XUV 3XO is exactly the same as the one sold in India. Key design elements include C-shaped LED daytime running lights, a bold front grille, and sharp Infinity tail lamps. The XUV 3XO AX5L model in Australia has 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the AX7L gets larger 17-inch wheels.
For colors, the AX5L variant offers Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Stealth Black, and Tango Red. The AX7L shares these colors but does not have Stealth Black. Instead, the AX7L has an exclusive Citrine Yellow color option.
Inside, the XUV 3XO offers many premium features. These include a 10.25-inch high-definition touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features are dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, and electric folding side mirrors.
The XUV 3XO AX7L has some special features not found on the AX5L. These include a skyroof, black leatherette seats, and a premium sound system from Harman Kardon. The dashboard and door trims have soft-touch leatherette, and there's a cooled glove box, a 65-watt USB Type-C charging port, and a 360-degree surround view system with a blind view monitor. Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) are also available, such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.
Engine Options
In India, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is available with three engine choices. However, for the Australian market, only one engine is offered: a 1.2-liter mStallion turbocharged multipoint fuel injection (TCMPFi) engine. This engine produces 110 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that uses a torque converter. In India, this engine also comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox option.
Pricing in Australia
Mahindra has set the starting price for the XUV 3XO in Australia at AUD 23,490 for the AX5L variant. This is a
drive-away price, which means it includes all on-road costs like taxes and registration. This price is equivalent to about 13.18 lakh Indian Rupees. The XUV 3XO AX7L variant is priced at AUD 26,490, which is about 14.87 lakh Indian Rupees. These are special introductory prices that will be valid until August 31st. After that, the prices for both the AX5L and AX7L versions will go up by AUD 500.
At these prices, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is one of the most affordable SUVs in Australia. For comparison, the Chery Tiggo 4 (Urban) has a drive-away price of AUD 23,990, and the MG ZS is priced at AUD 25,990. The Kia Stonic and Hyundai Venue, both automatic variants, have drive-away prices of AUD 28,290 and AUD 27,990, respectively.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO models sold in Australia are fully-built units exported from India. In India, the XUV 3XO is sold in a price range from 7.99 lakh to 15.79 lakh rupees. Mahindra is also developing an electric version of the XUV 3XO, which is expected to replace the XUV400. This electric model is likely to be launched later this year, possibly around the festive season.
