Mahindra XEV 9e & BE 6 Pack Two With 79 kWh Battery Launched
Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 Pack Two deliveries begin July end. New 79 kWh battery offers 500 km range, advanced features. Prices start Rs 21.90 lakh
Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to start deliveries of the Pack Two versions of its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs by the end of July 2025. This new phase introduces a larger 79 kWh battery option, joining the existing 59 kWh unit. The updated lineup for these born-electric SUVs now begins at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 21.90 lakh, with the higher-capacity version starting from Rs. 23.50 lakh.
Customers should note that the cost of charger installation is separate. Mahindra offers both 7.2 kW and 11.2 kW charging units as additional purchases. The larger 79 kWh variant promises an impressive claimed city driving range of 500 kilometers. The 59 kWh option continues to provide an estimated 400 kilometers under real-world conditions. For those who have already booked a vehicle with the smaller battery, there is an option to switch their order to the new, longer-range configuration.
Both battery variants come well-equipped with a range of features. These include Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), a panoramic glass roof, and a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos. The BE 6 model features luxurious sage leatherette upholstery and an ivory roof liner, elements borrowed from the Pack Three series. The XEV 9e maintains its modern dashboard design with a triple-screen layout.
Mahindra reports a significant demand for its electric SUVs, with one unit sold every ten minutes across the country. The BE and XUV.e lines are gaining considerable attention in India’s premium EV market. As local deliveries increase and the service network expands to over 300 locations, Mahindra aims to strengthen customer confidence in both metropolitan and regional areas.
The 59 kWh variant is powered by a 170 kW motor, while the more powerful 79 kWh pack is paired with a 210 kW unit. Both configurations support rapid charging. The smaller battery pack is compatible with a 140 kW DC charger. The larger one can charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC setup. Driving modes include multiple presets, along with a Boost Mode for extra power. The vehicles also feature multi-step regenerative braking, an Auto mode, and a one-touch single-pedal drive system.
The steering system incorporates electric power assist with a variable gear ratio, allowing for tighter control and a turning circle of 10 meters. The suspension system includes iLink at the front and a 5-link layout at the rear, combined with MTV-CL dampers and frequency-dependent damping. This setup helps smooth out various road textures. The low rolling resistance tires are designed to reduce noise and vibration, working in harmony with the cabin’s NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) dampening. Additional features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and SonicSuite, which provides virtual engine sounds, complete the impressive list of offerings.
Analysis
Mahindra’s introduction of the 79 kWh battery option for its XEV 9e and BE 6 electric SUVs is a strategic move to address range anxiety, a common concern among EV buyers. This larger battery, coupled with competitive pricing and advanced features like Level 2 ADAS and premium interiors, positions these models strongly in India’s growing premium EV segment. The company’s focus on expanding its service network and offering flexible booking options for existing customers demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction and market penetration. The rapid charging capabilities and refined driving dynamics further enhance the appeal of these vehicles, signaling Mahindra’s serious intent to lead the electric mobility revolution in India.
