Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z UG Launched in India with 43 PS Power and Quickshifter
2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z UG Launched with Faster Acceleration, Priced at ₹1.92 Lakh
Bajaj Auto has officially launched the updated Pulsar NS400Z UG in India, marking a significant upgrade to its most powerful Pulsar model. Priced at Rs 1.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new NS400Z UG comes with enhanced performance, sharper throttle response, quicker acceleration, and several hardware and electronic system upgrades, all for a modest price increase of just over Rs. 7,000.
Enhanced Performance and Speed
The 373 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine now delivers increased power, rising from 40 PS to 43 PS, with peak power arriving at 9,000 rpm. While the torque output remains at 35 Nm, it now peaks slightly higher in the rev range at 7,500 rpm. Bajaj has also raised the redline to 10,700 rpm in Sport mode, which is 1,000 rpm higher than before. In Road, Off-road, and Rain modes, the redline is capped at 10,300 rpm.
These performance enhancements translate into noticeable improvements in acceleration. The 0 to 60 kmph sprint time has improved from 3.2 seconds to a rapid 2.7 seconds, and the 0 to 100 kmph acceleration now takes 6.4 seconds, down from 7.5 seconds. The overall top speed has also increased from 150 kmph to 157 kmph. Despite these performance gains, Bajaj claims the fuel economy figures remain the same at 28 kmpl.
Mechanical and Feature Upgrades
Beyond engine calibration, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z UG features several mechanical tweaks. It now comes with a wider 150-section steel radial tire at the rear, and the front bias-ply tire has been replaced with a radial unit, both contributing to better grip and an improved ride feel. The braking system has been upgraded with sintered pads upfront, resulting in stopping distances that are up to 7 percent shorter.
A significant addition to the NS400Z UG is Bajaj’s proprietary Sport Shift system, which is a bi-directional quickshifter. This allows for clutchless full-throttle gearshifts in both up and down directions, enhancing the riding experience and performance.
Chassis and Dimensions
The motorcycle retains its robust twin-spar steel perimeter frame, with the chassis remaining unchanged. The kerb weight of the motorcycle is identical at 174 kg. It rides on 17-inch wheels with tire sizes of 110/70 at the front and 150/60 at the rear. Suspension travel remains at 120 mm at the front and 130 mm at the rear. The seat height is set at 805 mm, ground clearance at 165 mm, and the fuel tank has a capacity of 12 liters.
The braking setup includes a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc, complemented by a dual-channel ABS system. The motorcycle boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 247 PS per ton. Considering its price point, the updated NS400Z UG offers exceptional value and significantly undercuts rivals such as the Hero Mavrick 440 and TVS Apache RTR 310 in terms of performance.
Analysis
The much awaited new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z UG is also Bajaj Auto’s attempt to strengthen its position in the performance naked motorcycle segment. Performance gains, in terms of more power, faster acceleration, and a higher top speed, are clearly what the enthusiasts request and is therefore the focus of the attention. The bi-directional quickshifter and even better braking upgrades also make the bike attractive. By providing this important step up at a negligible increase in price, Bajaj has transformed the product into a highly competitive offering, which is good value for money. This aggressive positioning will certainly draw attention from buyers looking for a good value performance motorcycle and away from its competitors thus increasing Bajaj’s performance bike sales and positioning away from its competitors.
