TVS Apache RTR 160 Launched with Dual-Channel ABS in India
TVS launches Apache RTR 160 with dual-channel ABS, OBD-2B compliance, ride modes, and more - Priced from ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom).
TVS Motor Company has unveiled the 2025 version of its Apache RTR 160 motorcycle in India. This updated model now meets the new OBD-2B emissions rules. A notable change is that TVS has added dual-channel ABS to the motorcycle. This is a feature not often seen in this type of bike. The price for this new model starts at Rs. 1,34,320, which is an ex-showroom price. This makes it about Rs. 4,000 more expensive than the top-end Racing Edition of the older model.
Updates and Features
Beyond the new ABS system and emissions compliance, the motorcycle largely remains the same. The Apache RTR 160 has been a popular motorcycle in many parts of India for a long time. TVS has consistently updated it over the years. This latest version now includes different ride modes, which let the rider change how the bike performs. It also has a modern LCD console that shows a lot of information. The more expensive versions of the bike also come with Bluetooth connectivity. This allows riders to get mobile communication alerts and turn-by-turn navigation on the console.
Engine and Mechanicals
The Apache RTR 160 gets its power from a 159.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This engine produces 15.82bhp and 13.85Nm of torque. It is connected to a five-speed gearbox. The engine is held in place by a double cradle frame. The suspension system includes telescopic front forks and gas-charged rear shocks. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters. It is also quite light, weighing 137kg (kerb), which helps with its handling.
Analysis
Safety-wise, the 2025 TVS Apache RTR 160 update that adds dual-channel ABS is a segment first. The motorcycle, as a concept, is known but these much needed updates help keep the motorcycle competitive within the segment and include OBD-2B compliance as well as ride modes . As a result, there is also a small increase in price, and it will be a more premium product . Their success in India indicates that TVS knows their audience. This model will no doubt remain a strong seller for those riders wanting the safety and utility of a modern motorcycle, but in a proven package. The recommence on ‘Fundamental but not Transformational Change’ instead of revolutionizing things makes sense.
