Honda City Sport Edition Launched with bold black styling and red accents, offering a sportier look without mechanical changes.

Honda Cars India has introduced a new special edition of its City sedan for the domestic market. This model, named the City Sport, is available with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 14.88 lakh. The Sport Edition features darker cosmetic enhancements. These changes are intended to elevate its sporty appeal compared to the regular model. No mechanical changes have been made to the vehicle. Honda has stated that the availability of this special edition is limited.

The most noticeable exterior update is at the front of the vehicle. The wide chrome trim, typically found on the standard City model, has been replaced with a glossy black strip. The front grille has also been blacked out to match this new trim. Additionally, the outside rear view mirror housings now feature a dark finish. At the rear, a subtle ‘Sport’ badge has been added to the boot, complementing the updated styling. A slim black lip spoiler further enhances the car’s distinct appearance.

Inside the cabin, the Honda City Sport Edition continues with a fully black theme. The seat upholstery is now entirely black, complemented by black dashboard inserts. Red contrast stitching is visible on the multifunctional steering wheel. As previously stated, no changes have been made to the car’s mechanical components.

The Honda City Sport grade is powered by the standard 1.5L four-cylinder VTEC petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 121 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are exclusively handled by the CVT automatic unit, which is also available on the regular City model. The regular six-speed manual transmission is not offered in the Sport edition.

This cosmetic update aims to give the existing Honda City package a sportier feel without introducing any performance enhancements. Sedan sales across the automotive industry have recently seen a significant decline, as consumer preference has shifted towards SUVs. While the changes in the Sport Edition are minor, they could appeal to buyers who desire a more visually appealing version of the City nameplate.

The Honda City Sport Edition is available in Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic color schemes. It includes features such as grey finished alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, the Honda Sensing suite (ADAS), paddle shifters, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
