Upcoming Nissan MPV, Compact SUV & 7-Seater SUV: Launch & Key Details

Nissan Compact MPV, Compact SUV, and 7-Seater SUV: Launch Timeline and Latest Updates

Nissan recently launched the CNG version of its popular Magnite SUV in India. But that’s not all, Nissan is now planning to expand its lineup in India in a big way. The company has confirmed that it will introduce three new vehicles in the coming years: a compact MPV, a compact SUV, and a 7-seater SUV. Let’s take a closer look at the details and expected launch timelines for each model.

Compact MPV

The first and most affordable model in this upcoming lineup is the Nissan Compact MPV. It is expected to launch in early 2026. This MPV will be built on the CMF-A platform, which is the same platform used for the Renault Triber.

In fact, this MPV will be a badge-engineered version of the Triber. This means that it will share many parts and features with the Triber, including body panels and mechanical components. However, Nissan might offer a turbocharged petrol engine in the higher variants, which could set it apart from its Renault counterpart.

Many Indian car buyers have been asking for a more powerful engine in the Triber, so this could be Nissan’s chance to deliver what people want while keeping the cost reasonable. More details about this MPV will be revealed closer to the launch. Nissan is also expected to showcase a near-production version of the car by the end of this year.

Compact SUV

Next in line is a brand-new Compact SUV that will be based on the upcoming Renault Duster. This SUV will use the CMF-B platform, which is more advanced than the one used in the current Magnite. Just like the MPV, this SUV will also be a badge-engineered model but will have a different design, interior, and features to give it a unique identity.

Nissan hinted that the design of this SUV may take inspiration from the international Nissan Patrol, a popular and stylish SUV sold in global markets. It will likely offer the same engine and transmission options as the new Duster.

However, this compact SUV will not have a diesel option. Instead, it will be available with petrol engines only, possibly including a hybrid variant for better fuel efficiency. It will compete with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others in the same segment.

Nissan is expected to reveal a pre-production model in early 2025, with the full launch planned for mid-2026.

7-Seater SUV

The final new model in this series is a 7-Seater SUV. This SUV will be inspired by the Renault Bigster, but Nissan says it will be more than just a stretched version of a 5-seater SUV. It is being designed from the ground up as a proper 7-seater family SUV.

Like the compact SUV, the 7-seater will also take design cues from the Nissan Patrol and could be powered by a larger petrol engine to handle the extra weight of the third row.

This SUV will not have a diesel engine option but might get a strong hybrid version for those who want more power with better mileage. It will compete against cars like the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and Tata Safari.

The 7-seater Nissan SUV is expected to be launched in early 2027.
