Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV India Debut: Specs, Features, Launch Timeline, and More
Toyota’s First Electric SUV for India Set to Launch by Year-End
The Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV, which made its global entry in Brussels, had its India debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. The Japanese automaker had earlier confirmed that the mid-size electric SUV, which can comfortably seat five passengers, would be launched in the second half of the year (July–December). However, considering that its sibling, the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, is likely to launch after September, the Urban Cruiser BEV launch in India could happen before the end of the calendar year.
Built on the 27PL electric architecture, the Urban Cruiser BEV incorporates minor design changes and styling cues inspired by its international e-Vitara counterpart and Toyota’s global EV models.
Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Dimensions & Platform:
When it comes to dimensions, the Urban Cruiser BEV measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. This makes it larger than both the Yaris Cross and the e-Vitara. The vehicle will be manufactured at Toyota-Suzuki’s SMC facility in Gujarat, alongside the e-Vitara, and will be available in both domestic and export markets.
Battery Options, Power Output, and Range:
Internationally, the Toyota Urban Cruiser electric SUV is expected to offer two lithium-iron-phosphate battery options:
49 kWh battery producing 144 hp, limited to front-wheel drive (FWD)
61 kWh battery with two configurations: FWD: 174 hp
All-wheel drive (AWD): 184 hp, featuring an additional 48 kW rear motor
The target driving range is over 500 km on a single charge, with support for DC fast-charging, making it a strong contender in the Indian electric SUV segment.
Features & Interior Highlights:
The Urban Cruiser BEV will come packed with modern tech and comfort features. Key highlights include:
- Panoramic 360° camera system
- Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
- Powered driver’s seat
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
- Wireless charging pad

These features position the Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV as a tech-forward, comfort-driven choice among upcoming electric SUVs in India.
