There are a lot of new SUVs that will be introduced in India in the next 12 to 18 months. New models for the Indian market are being prepared by companies like as Renault, Nissan, Toyota, Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki. Some SUVs will be new and unheard of, while others will be upgraded models of already-existing SUVs. Each of these SUVs was created to satisfy the increasing need for strong road presence and high ground clearance. New competitors will appear in a number of classes, ranging from small crossovers to big three-row SUVs.

1. Nissan Mid-Size SUV:
Nissan recently revealed its future plans for India, with four new models on the way. The company will use the same platform as the Renault Triber. Among these models, the most exciting one is the upcoming mid-size SUV, expected to launch before the end of the current financial year.
2. Next-Gen Renault Duster:
Renault is bringing back the Duster with a brand-new design, built on the CMF-B+ modular platform. It is anticipated to arrive India by 2025. The new Duster may come with a hybrid engine and will have major upgrades inside and out compared to the older version.
3. Mahindra XUV700 Facelift:
Mahindra plans to launch a facelifted version of the XUV700 in 2026. This variant will have minor external and interior modifications.. The current 2.2L diesel and 2.0L petrol engines will be continued, but new features are expected. An electric version of the XUV700, based on the XUV.e8 concept, is also in development.
4. Maruti Suzuki eVX (Electric Vitara):
The eVX will be Maruti Suzuki’s first fully electric SUV. It is expected to launch by September or October 2025. On a full charge, it will offer over 500 km of range. It will be available in two battery options and sold through Nexa showrooms. The eVX will be built on a dedicated electric platform, and Toyota is also expected to release a similar model using the same base.
5. Toyota Fortuner MHEV (Mild Hybrid):
Toyota is planning to launch a 48V mild-hybrid version of the Fortuner in India. It will combine the well-known 2.8L GD diesel engine with a mild-hybrid system for better torque, improved fuel efficiency, and lower emissions. This version is already available in some international markets along with the hybrid Hilux.
