Many people today use AI apps to edit photos create videos or try new creative tools on their phones. These apps are becoming very popular on Android devices. However a recent security report has raised serious concerns about how some of these apps handle user data.

Researchers found that certain AI apps on the Google Play Store stored user files without proper protection. Because of this issue private photos videos and personal information became accessible online.

Millions of Photos and Videos Were Exposed

One affected app called Video AI Art Generator and Maker has crossed more than five lakh downloads. Security researchers discovered that user files uploaded to the app were saved on an unsecured server.

Due to this mistake around 1.5 million photos and nearly 400000 videos were left exposed on the internet. In total more than 12 terabytes of data remained publicly accessible before the issue was fixed.

The developers later corrected the problem but many users were unaware that their uploaded content was temporarily at risk.

Personal Information Also Found Online

The concern was not limited to photos and videos. Another identity verification service named IDMerit also faced a major data exposure incident.

Reports suggest that nearly one billion records were accessible through an unsecured database. The exposed information included names home addresses birth dates and identity documents from users across multiple countries.

Such data exposure increases the risk of identity theft and online fraud if accessed by malicious actors.

Security Issues Found in Many AI Apps

Cybersecurity experts also reviewed hundreds of AI based applications available on the Play Store. Their findings showed that about seventy percent of these apps had security weaknesses.

In several cases developers stored sensitive access keys directly inside the app code. This practice makes it easier for attackers to gain access to private systems and user data.

These findings show that rapid growth in AI apps is sometimes moving faster than security protections.

Users do not need to stop using AI apps completely but basic precautions can help protect personal data. Always download apps from trusted developers with good user history. Avoid uploading sensitive photos documents or personal files unless necessary. Check app reviews and permissions before installation.
