Updated 2025 Bajaj Dominar 400 and 250 Launched With Smarter Touring Features

Bajaj launches updated 2025 Dominar 400 & 250 with ride-by-wire, GPS mount, ergonomic tweaks, and more

Bajaj has introduced updated versions of its Dominar 400 and Dominar 250 motorcycles for 2025. These new models come with several new features designed to improve their long-distance touring capabilities and overall usability. The 2025 Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 2.38 lakh, while the Dominar 250 costs Rs 1.91 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi).

Key Updates and Technology

The most significant change for the 2025 Dominar 400 is the adoption of ride-by-wire technology, which uses an electronic throttle body. This system allows for four different riding modes: Road, Rain, Sport, and Off-Road. The Dominar 250, however, keeps its mechanical throttle body but now includes four selectable ABS modes.

Bajaj has also redesigned the handlebar to reduce wrist fatigue during long rides. The speedometer has been moved to a bonded glass unit with an integrated flap, making it easier to read in various weather conditions. A dedicated GPS mount has been added to the carrier, catering to riders who prefer precise navigation without relying on their phones. The switchgear has also been subtly revised for a clearer tactile response.

Dominar's Journey and Reputation

The Dominar series began in 2017 as a sports tourer. Over the years, it has built a reputation for its robust performance and touring capabilities, especially through Bajaj’s ‘Dominar Odysseys’ initiative. These odysseys have seen Dominar motorcycles travel across continents, including rides to the Arctic and along the Trans-Siberian Highway, covering over three lakh kilometers collectively.

There are no performance updates for the 2025 models. The Bajaj Dominar 400 continues to be powered by a 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 39.42 bhp at 8,800 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm.

The 2025 Bajaj Dominar 250 uses a 249 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It delivers a maximum power of 26.6 bhp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 23.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Both engines are paired with a six-speed transmission, and a slipper and assist clutch come standard.

Analysis

The updates in 2025 for the Bajaj Dominar 400 & 250 showcase Bajaj’s focus on improving the touring experience for riders – and they’re different in ways that matter. These features including ride-by-wire with multiple riding modes, ergonomic changes and the addition of practical touches like a GPS mount directly address the long-distance motorcycling needs. The performance numbers don’t change, but the emphasis in terms of usability and comfort at competitive prices makes these new models very appealing. This positioning refinement also helps us position the Dominar as a capable and reliable sports tourer in the Indian market, based on its endurance and performance in the real world.
