The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, a new off-road vehicle, is now expected to start being made in 2026. This is a bit later than the original plan of 2025. This new model will be a more affordable option in Toyota’s line of tough off-road vehicles.
Built for Toughness and Accessibility
The Land Cruiser FJ will use a strong frame called the IMV 0 platform. This same frame is also used for the Hilux Champ, a useful truck sold in Thailand. Toyota plans for the Land Cruiser FJ to be smaller and easier to get than the Fortuner, another SUV they sell. This shows Toyota wants to offer more types of SUVs that are easier for many people to buy.
Design and Look
Pictures that were leaked show what the Land Cruiser FJ will look like. It will have a tough, classic design. This includes a straight front end, square wheel arches, and a flat roof. It will also have C-shaped LED lights for daytime driving at the front. At the back, it will have square tail lights, thick body parts, and tall sides. These details give it a look that reminds people of older, classic off-road cars.
Engine Choices and Off-Road Ability
Toyota is looking at different engines for the Land Cruiser FJ. These could include diesel engines, from a small 1.5-liter to a larger 2.8-liter. For petrol engines, a 2.0-liter and a 2.7-liter are being thought about. The 2.7-liter engine, which makes 163 horsepower, seems like the most likely choice right now. It is not yet confirmed if there will be an electric version, but it is possible as car companies are moving towards cleaner energy.
Reports also suggest that the Land Cruiser FJ might come with a special four-wheel-drive system. This system could have a Torsen limited-slip part and different driving modes. These features would make it even better at driving off-road. At this time, it is not known if the Land Cruiser FJ will be sold in India.
