Tata Harrier EV QWD All-Electric SUV Launched Offers AWD, 627km Range & 5-star Safety
Tata Motors has brought out a new electric version of its popular Harrier SUV. The Tata Harrier EV QWD is now available, with prices beginning at Rs. 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This new electric SUV gives buyers another choice in India’s growing electric car market. It mixes the well-known look and features of the Harrier with electric power.
Tata Motors had already announced prices for the RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) models, which range from Rs. 21.49 lakh to Rs. 27.49 lakh. Bookings for the Tata Harrier EV will open on July 2, 2025. Recently, this SUV became the first all-electric, all-wheel-drive vehicle to get a top 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The Tata Harrier EV will compete with cars like the Mahindra XEV 9e in India.
Power and Performance: What’s Under the Hood
The Tata Harrier EV QWD uses a dual-motor system. This means it has an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, giving it all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability. The front motor makes 156 bhp, and the rear motor produces 235 bhp. Together, these two electric motors create a total torque of 504 Nm. This setup allows the e-SUV to go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. The QWD system also includes features like Boost Mode, 6 Terrain Modes, and Off-Road Assist mode, which help the car handle different driving conditions.
The Harrier EV is offered with two battery pack options: 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The 65 kWh battery is available in the Adventure, Adventure S, and Fearless+ grades. The larger 75 kWh battery can be found in the Fearless+, Empowered RWD, and Empowered QWD trim levels. The 75 kWh battery provides a superior MIDC range of 627 km. It also supports fast-charging, adding 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. Tata Motors offers a lifetime warranty on the battery pack, aiming for a worry-free ownership experience.
Safety and Advanced Technology
Safety is a big part of the Harrier EV. It scored very well in crash tests by Bharat NCAP. It got 32 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection (COP). For safety, the electric SUV has 7 airbags. It also comes with ADAS Level 2, which includes more than 20 features to help drivers. These features include an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), an SOS Call function for emergencies, Hill Descent Control, Hill Hold Assist, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It also has rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
Tata has also put many advanced and premium features into the Harrier EV. These include a large 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED cinematic touchscreen for entertainment and information. There’s a JBL Black 10 speaker system with Dolby Atmos for great sound. Other features are Summon Mode, Reverse Assist, Auto Park Assist, and an HD Rear view mirror. A 540-degree surround view camera helps with parking and maneuvering. It also has dual-zone climate control with cooled storage and an air purifier. The ambient lighting changes with the drive modes and music. Wireless charging is also available.
Beyond these, the Harrier EV offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. V2L means you can use the car’s battery to power other devices, and V2V means it can charge another electric vehicle. The boot space is 502 liters, and it can expand up to 999 liters if needed.
