Kinetic Green’s New Electric Scooter Pays Tribute to Iconic Kinetic Honda DX
Kinetic Green could launch a DX-style e-scooter named "Zwag" - a stylish nod to the past with performance for today’s roads.
Kinetic Green has just gotten a design patent in India for a new electric scooter that looks a lot like the old Kinetic Honda DX. This classic two-stroke scooter was once everywhere on Indian roads, and this hints that Kinetic Green might be planning to bring it back in an electric version. They did something similar before with their Luna model, which turned into the successful E-Luna.
A nod to the past:
It’s clear that the design of the new electric scooter takes cues from the Kinetic Honda DX. You’ll recognize the familiar boxy shape and proportions that many riders loved. It also includes those angular lines and rectangular headlight that were signature features of the DX. Even some small details, like the flyscreen above the headlight, are a nod to the original. There are also vents under the seat that echo the DX’s look.
One difference is that the new electric scooter won’t have a spare wheel, which was a well-known feature of the original DX.
Modern features:
While it pays tribute to the classic design, the new scooter also has some modern updates. It has a telescopic front fork instead of the older trailing link suspension, which should make for a better ride. From the patent images, it looks like the scooter will have 12-inch wheels and disc brakes in the front, showing a focus on safety and performance.
Kinetic Green has also registered a new name, “Zwag,” for one of its upcoming scooters. We’re not sure yet if this will be the name for the new electric scooter based on the DX design.
Details on the scooter’s performance still aren’t clear, but to really compete, it should have a good range and speed. A top speed of 70-80 km/h would keep the spirit of the original Kinetic DX alive, as that was one of the faster scooters back in the day.
Right now, Kinetic Green’s star product is the E-Luna, which sells for between Rs 69,990 and Rs 82,490. They also offer some scooters and three-wheelers from China. If they launch this new electric scooter, it could become their flagship model and really put the brand on the map.
Making a big move for the market, Kinetic Green recently brought in Jayapradeep Vasudevan, or ‘JP,’ as President of their electric two-wheeler division. He’s got a solid background in leadership and business from brands like Royal Enfield, and he’s tasked with steering the market strategy for this new electric scooter and future products.
