Volkswagen Golf GTI India Launch Confirmed for May 26

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has received an impressive response in the Indian market. According to the company, 150 cars from the first batch launched earlier this month have already been pre-booked. However, the final price will be announced on May 26, so some bookings are likely to be cancelled after that.

Keeping in mind customer demand, Volkswagen is planning to bring another 100 units to India. The deliveries are expected to take place next year.

Specifications Golf GTI Offers:

The Indian version of the Golf GTI will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 hp. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, sending power to the front wheels.

The car is available in four colors: Moonstone Grey, King's Red, Onyx White, and Grenadilla Black. Only the fully-loaded variant will be available. It will feature a digital driving display, 12.9-inch touchscreen, ADAS safety features, LED headlights, sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, sporty front seats, paddle shifters, launch control, and a limited-slip differential.

What to Expect: Golf GTI Price in India

The car is expected to be priced around Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The on-road price in some cities, including road tax and other costs, could exceed Rs. 60 lakh.

At this price, it will sit between the Mini Cooper S (Rs. 44.90 lakh to Rs. 55.90 lakh) and the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S (Rs. 94.80 lakh).

Although priced a bit high, the Golf GTI is known for offering a mini sports car feel, advanced features, and powerful performance in a compact hatchback format.

Future Launches May Include More Powerful Golf GTI Editions

In the future, Volkswagen is considering bringing versions of the Golf R (328 hp, all-wheel drive) or Dynamic Chassis Control, an official revealed. These could also offer suspension tuning for a better driving experience.
