Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Coming in 2026 with Cost-Effective IMV 0 Base

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Likely to Launch in 2026 Instead of 2025

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ was earlier expected to launch in 2025, but now it looks like it will come out in 2026. This new SUV is being made as a more affordable and simpler version of Toyota's off-road vehicles.

The Land Cruiser FJ is being built on the IMV 0 platform the same base that is used for the Hilux Champ pickup truck. This platform helps Toyota build strong vehicles that can handle rough roads, and also makes it easier to create smaller and cheaper SUVs.

This FJ model is expected to be placed below the Toyota Fortuner, which means it will cost less and be easier for more people to buy. Its design will have a mix of old-school looks with round headlights and square-shaped lights, giving it a classic yet modern style.

Some delays in the production of the Land Cruiser 250 and fewer new orders around the world have pushed the launch of the FJ to 2026. In Japan, the expected price is between 4 to 4.5 million, that’s around ₹23 to ₹27 lakhs in Indian money.

In terms of size, the Land Cruiser FJ is expected to be:

  • Around 4,550 mm long

  • 1,830 mm wide

  • 1,860 mm tall

That means it will be similar in size to the Corolla Cross. The wheelbase (distance between front and back wheels) will be around 2,750 mm, which helps make the inside more spacious and gives better balance while driving on rough roads.

As of now, there is no confirmation if the Land Cruiser FJ will be launched in India. But it could be added to Toyota’s India plans if the price and features fit well with what Indian buyers want.

Toyota has already done very well in India with the Fortuner, crossing 3 lakh sales recently. The Fortuner has been one of the top full-size SUVs in India for more than 15 years.

The FJ is expected to come with different engine options:

  • A 1.5L diesel

  • A 2.8L diesel

  • A 2.0L petrol

  • A 2.7L petrol

The 2.7L petrol engine, which gives 163 PS of power, might be the most common one for this SUV.

Toyota also plans to give the FJ four-wheel drive (4WD) with special driving modes and a limited-slip differential, which will help it perform well on rough and off-road paths.
