Market Strategy:
Honda is aiming to strengthen its position in the fast-growing mid-capacity cruiser segment in India. It looks like the bike has been designed with premium quality, adding modern engineering to the retro look of older times.
Engine and Performance:
The Honda Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc, in-line 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine produces 46bhp and 43.3 Nm of torque. The company says that this will provide an excellent riding experience to the riders.
Design and Build:
In terms of design, the Rebel 500 is built on a tubular steel frame. It has a low seat height of 690 mm for easy seating. It has a fuel tank capacity of 11.2 -litres. It weighs 195 grammes. It is almost the same weight as the Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycle. Other features include 16-inch unique wheels on both sides, fat 130-section tyre at the front, 150-section tyre at the rear, dual-channel ABS for safety and negative LCD display.
Features, Completion and Pricing:
The Rebel 500 will compete in India with models like the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 (Rs. 3.59 lakh), Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 (Rs. 3.68 lakh), and the Super Meteor 650. However, the price of this bike seems to be a bit high as it is completely imported from abroad via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
Still, it is Rs. 78,000 cheaper than the NX500 and Rs. 64,000 less expensive than the Kawasaki Eliminator 500.
