2026 Toyota bZ: Enhanced Range, Power, and Charging Tech
Toyota bZ for 2026 – Ahead of the Updates
For 2026, Toyota has rebranded its bZ4X model as the new bZ. The update brings significant improvements in driving range, power output, and charging capabilities.
The newly available XLE FWD Plus, XLE AWD, and Limited versions are equipped with a larger 74.7 kWh battery pack. This increases the estimated driving range to 505 km, which is about 25 percent more than the previous model.
Compared to the previous model, the new bZ comes with two battery options:
Base XLE FWD model: 57.7 kWh battery, range up to 378 km
Higher trims: 74.7 kWh battery, higher power, and longer range
The 2026 bZ also features a North American Charging System (NACS) port, which can be used with thousands of DC fast chargers. Plug & Charge technology makes charging even easier, no special apps are required.
Under the right conditions, fast charging can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
AWD models now produce 338 hp a significant increase from the previous 214 hp. As a result, they can reach 0–96 kmph in just 5 seconds. FWD models also see a power increase from 201 hp to 221 hp, made possible by eAxles developed using silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors.
There are also some changes to the vehicle design with subtle color variations, a sportier outlook, and improved lighting elements.
Inside, a larger 14-inch touchscreen, a new instrument panel, ambient lighting with 64 colors, dual wireless chargers, and premium soft-touch surfaces are available. The braking energy recovery can be customized while driving via paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
To improve charging efficiency in cold climates, the new bZ is available with a battery thermal management system. It features components like a water-to-water heat exchanger, a heat pump, and ventilated/heated seats.
Off-road performance is further enhanced with the addition of X-Mode and Grip Control technologies on AWD models. These help maintain stability even on rough surfaces.
In terms of dimensions, the car has an overall length of 4,690 mm, a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, and a ground clearance of 208 mm. Front legroom is 1,070 mm, and rear legroom is 897 mm. Rear boot capacity is 784 liters.
Toyota expects to launch the 2026 bZ in the market by the end of 2025, with pricing details to be announced in the US soon.
