Kia Carens Clavis EV Set to Launch in India Next Month - Its Confirmed
Kia's Next Big Thing: Get Ready for the Carens Clavis Electric MPV!
Hey everyone! Big news coming from Kia India. First off, they had a great month in May 2025, selling over 22,300 cars here in India. That's a nice jump compared to last year and marks five months of growth in a row for them! Good job, Kia!
But the even more exciting news? Kia just confirmed they're launching a brand new vehicle this July!
What's Coming? Meet the Kia Carens Clavis EV
Get ready for the electric version of the Kia Carens Clavis. You might remember Kia launched the regular petrol/diesel version of the Clavis just a little while ago – it's like a fancier version of the popular Carens MPV.
Now, they're bringing out an all-electric model! This is exciting because it will be one of the first electric MPVs (Multi-Purpose Vehicles) of its size in India.
What Will the Clavis EV Look Like?
Kia hasn't shown the final car yet, but we expect the electric Clavis will look mostly like the regular one. However, expect a few small changes to show it's electric. Maybe a slightly different front design, maybe some cool new LED daytime running lights, and possibly different alloy wheels. Just little touches to make it stand out.
Inside, it should feel familiar if you've seen the regular Clavis. Expect the same dashboard, touchscreen, steering wheel, and general layout. Kia might use some different materials or colors inside to give it that special EV feel. The best part? It should still have that roomy cabin and the option for three rows of seats, making it super practical for families.
How Far Will It Go? (Range and Battery)
This is the big question for any electric car! While Kia hasn't given exact numbers, the Clavis EV will likely share its battery technology with the Hyundai Creta Electric.
The Creta EV comes with two battery choices:
- A smaller one (around 42 kWh)
- A larger one (around 51.4 kWh)
The larger battery in the Creta EV gives it a claimed range of about 473 km. Because the Clavis is a bit bigger and heavier, its range might be slightly less. We expect the Kia Carens Clavis EV with the bigger battery to offer a real-world driving range of over 450 km on a single charge. That's pretty good for an electric family car!
Why is the Clavis EV a Big Deal?
Right now, there aren't many electric MPVs like this in India. The Clavis EV could be perfect for families looking for a spacious, feature-packed electric car without jumping to a huge, super-expensive SUV. It’s set to create its own space in the market.
What Else is Kia Planning?
Kia is serious about electric cars in India. They already sell the premium EV6 and EV9. Besides the Clavis EV, they're also working on an electric version of a smaller SUV called the Syros. The Syros EV is expected next year and will likely compete with cars like the Tata Punch EV.
Stay Tuned!
So, keep an eye out for July 2025! The launch of the Kia Carens Clavis EV is just around the corner. It looks like a promising electric option for Indian families needing space, features, and decent range.
