Upcoming Tata Punch Facelift Spied Testing: First Look Inside and Outside
Tata Punch Facelift Spied Testing: New Design, Updated Interiors, 10.25-inch Touchscreen & Expected Launch by End of This Year
Tata Motors, one of India's leading car manufacturers, is known for keeping its lineup fresh and exciting. They've been busy working on several new models for the Indian market, and one highly anticipated update is for the Tata Punch. The Punch, Tata's first micro SUV, quickly won the hearts of buyers across the country since its launch. Now, Tata is preparing a significant update on the Punch facelift and recent spy shots have given us the first glimpse of its redesigned interior, along with more details about its exterior changes.
What's New on the Outside?
The upcoming Tata Punch facelift is expected to sport a noticeably redesigned front end. Spy shots suggest it will feature a connecting LED bar across the front, which Tata likes to call a "welcome bar," similar to what we've seen on their newer SUVs. Even if the full light bar isn't present, expect a new setup for the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and turn indicators. The front bumper, grille, and headlamps are also getting a makeover. It's likely the new headlamps will draw inspiration from the designs seen on the popular Tata Harrier and Nexon models, giving the Punch a more modern and aggressive look.
Moving to the side profile, the overall shape and design of the Punch seem to remain largely the same. However, a key difference spotted is the wheels. Tata is expected to offer newly designed or more stylish alloy wheels on the Punch facelift, enhancing its road presence.
A Peek Inside: Revamped Cabin
For the first time, spy photographers have managed to capture the interior of the Tata Punch facelift. The images reveal some significant upgrades within the cabin. The most prominent change is the large, 10.25-inch floating-type touchscreen infotainment system positioned in the center of the dashboard. This is a substantial upgrade from the current model's screen and promises a more modern user experience with likely improved connectivity features.
The layered dashboard design continues but features a dual-tone color scheme. The lower part is finished in a light, ice grey shade, while the upper section is black. This combination aims to give the cabin a more premium and airy feel. Additionally, the design of the AC vents appears slightly different compared to the outgoing model.
Another major update is the steering wheel. The Punch facelift will get a new, twin-spoke, gloss black steering wheel, featuring the illuminated Tata logo in the center, a design element seen in many recent Tata cars. The steering wheel includes mounted controls for various functions. Behind the steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster is visible, likely the same unit found in other Tata vehicles, providing clear and comprehensive driving information.
Apart from these key changes, the rest of the cabin layout seems familiar, retaining the practical and spacious feel of the current Punch.
Engine and Transmission: Familiar Power
Under the hood, the Tata Punch facelift is expected to carry over the same engine from the current version. This means it will likely continue to use the reliable 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 86 Bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. This engine is known for its adequate performance for city driving and occasional highway trips.
Buyers will likely still have the choice between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) for convenience. Tata offers the current Punch with both petrol and CNG fuel options, and this is expected to continue. Notably, the Punch has never been offered with a diesel engine. There's speculation that the CNG version of the Punch facelift might get the AMT gearbox option, similar to the Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT models, offering more convenience to CNG buyers.
Expected Launch and Price
With all these updates and design changes, the Tata Punch facelift is shaping up to be a significant refresh. While the core strengths of the Punch are likely to remain, the new features and styling will make it even more competitive in the micro SUV segment. Due to these enhancements, a price increase over the current model is expected.
Tata Motors is anticipated to launch the new Punch facelift later this year. Keep an eye out for more official details as the launch date approaches!
