Toyota Fortuner and Legender Cross 3 Lakh Sales Milestone in India
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has officially announced that its popular premium SUV models, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Legender, have crossed the prestigious milestone of 3 lakh unit sales in the Indian market. This major achievement clearly highlights the immense popularity of the Toyota Fortuner across the country.
Launched in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner in India has consistently remained one of the most successful premium SUVs in its segment. Despite being priced at a premium, the Fortuner has built a strong reputation for trust, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Key reasons behind its dominance include its low maintenance costs, high resale value, and impressive on-road and off-road performance.
Toyota Fortuner and Legender: Performance and Features
Both the Toyota Fortuner and Legender SUVs are built on a rigid ladder frame chassis and come with an optional 4WD (four-wheel drive) system. This robust structure makes them a top choice among SUV enthusiasts and adventure seekers in India.
Engine Specs (Diesel Variant):
A 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine powers the Fortuner and Legender, delivering 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Engine Specs (Petrol Variant):
The petrol-powered Fortuner variant comes equipped with a 2.7-litre engine that generates 164 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. This variant is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and is available exclusively with rear-wheel drive (RWD).
Toyota Legender: Style Meets Performance
In 2021, Toyota introduced the Legender SUV, based on the Fortuner platform. This variant offers a more stylish design and is loaded with premium features to attract urban buyers and tech-savvy drivers. Key highlights of the Legender include:
- Dual-tone exterior styling
- Sequential LED turn indicators
- Wireless mobile charging
- 11-speaker JBL premium sound system
